Top Aston Martin Racing customer team, Beechdean Motorsports have today announced they will run a 2013 specification Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 in this year’s Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
The British outfit retain drivers, Andrew Howard (Buckinghamshire) and Jonny Adam (Kirkaldy), and the duo link-up again for their third successive year of racing with each other; together Howard and Adam have scooped three wins since the start of the 2011 season and are confident of enjoying more success in 2013.
Last season, Howard and Adam took a victory in round two at the Nürburgring and in doing so gave the V12 Vantage GT3 it’s first ever race victory. Two further podiums, including a second place finish in ‘that’ race at Brands Hatch where Adam and Howard overcame a 25 second deficit in some 28 laps to the RJN Nissan GT-R, only to lose out to Jann Mardenborough by just 0.022 seconds as they crossed the line side-by-side.
The V12 Vantage GT3 has a modified version of Aston Martin’s production 6.0 litre V12 engine. The dry-sumped engine produces more than 600 bhp with 700 Nm of torque. The V12 Vantage GT3 builds upon years of engineering and race experience in international sports car racing with the DBR9, DBRS9 and the very latest Vantage GTE.
The 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship gets underway over the Easter weekend (30/Mar 01/Apr) at Cheshire’s fast and flowing Oulton Park circuit.

Andrew Howard (below, middle, celebrating at Nürburgring 2012), Beechdean Motorsport Team Principal and Driver
"Last season was very much an exploratory year for the team, myself and Jonny. We had good pace throughout the year and we’re very much looking forward to going racing in 2013 against some of the best in Europe. The series itself has taken a leap forward and is fast looking like it will be the best GT championship in Europe at this rate. It should be a great year.”
Jonny Adam (below, right), Driver
“I can’t wait to get out there in 007 again. Beechdean is a super team and I enjoy racing with Andrew. Last year we proved we had the pace and possibly should’ve come away with more wins, but that is racing. Driving the Aston Martin is a joy, and I’m really looking forward to the new season.
Benjamin Franassovici, British GT Championship Manager
“We’re pleased to welcome Andrew and Jonny back for a third season. They’re a great example of the Pro-Am driver pairings we actively encourage. If it hadn’t have been for some bad luck last year, the Beechdean crew would perhaps have finished higher and I’m sure they will be there or there abouts in 2013. The Aston Martin is a sexy car, it draws attention from teams, drivers and of course fans, so it will be great to have it on the grid. Andrew’s ice-creams are very tasty too… I hope to see more of these this year.”
